Movie Reviews

warning: some endings to these movies might be revealed.

a couple of movies i've watched for the past couple of weeks:

i) april 29th - Starsky and Hutch (TGV KLCC)

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. the most hillarious partnership in Hollywood other than Will Smith and Martin Lawrence of the Bad Boys fame? the chemistry between them was inevitable, ever since Meet the Parents (2000), Zoolander & Royal Tenenbaums (2001) and now as partners in Starsky and Hutch. in a predictable plot, David Starsky (Ben Stiller) and Ken Hutchinson (Owen Wilson) are the good guys, against a druglord with the name of Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn). some cameo appearances by Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear stole the show entirely from Stiller and Wilson. if you're looking for some good laughs and typical Stiller-humor, i would recommend this movie for everyone, for real.

oh, can't wait for Meet The Parents' sequel, "Meet the Fockers", starring Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand as Greg's parents.

ii) may 7th - Van Helsing (GSC MidValley)

damn! not as good as i expected. i was initially attracted with the idea that some famous legends and monsters were combined in ONE single movie, including Dr. Gabriel Van Helsing, Count Vladislaus Dracula, Frankenstein, Werewolf and Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. even though it was almost entirely action-packed and nerve-wrecking in some scenes, the movie was dissapointing. i would actually go for Troy instead of this one.

but hey, watching Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale of Underworld fame..rrrr) in that tight outfit would be enough reason to go and see this adventure/horror/fantasy flick. hmm they shoould really make a sequel for Underworld, called "Underwear". i wouldn't mind watching that one. waaarrrrggghhhh hahahahaha...

iii) may 13th - Troy (TGV KLCC)

been waiting for this war epic for quite a while. the director, Wolfgang Petersen assembled one of the hottest properties in Hollywood, Brad Pitt and two emerging young "hunks", Eric Bana (of the Hulk fame) and Orlando Bloom (more known as Legolas Greenleaf of the Lord of The Rings fame). the story was pretty simple. Paris (Orlando Bloom), Prince of Troy, stole Menelaus' hot wife, Helen (Diana Kruger) and of course Menelaus got pissed like hell. he requested the help from his brother, Agamemnon (Brian Cox) to attack Troy, in what to be the biggest battle of all time. Achilles (Brad Pitt), the greatest warrior of that era refused to fight any more battles for the cowardly king, Agamemnon but changed his mind after being persuaded by Odysseus (Sean Bean or more known as Boromir of the Lord of The Rings of fame). interesting eh? two main characters from Lord of The Rings were cast in this war epic. prepared to defend Troy was none other than Paris' brother, Hector (Eric Bana) who seemed like the wisest warrior throughout the movie. in a battle scene between Hector and Achilles, i was secretly hoping that Hector would stop the battle and said, "don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when i'm angry", turned into a green monster and beat the shit out of Achilles..waarrrggghhh hahahahaha...

oh, that metrosexual Legolas was far than heroic in this one. he's notoriously known as the ladies man in Troy, clean-cut, sissy and what's worse, he's wearing a skirt..hehe. even in that skirt, Paris still carried the title of metrosexual in Troy, don't you think?

iv) may 16th - Secret Window (TGV Sunway Pyramid)

didn't know this movie was adapted from a Stephen King's novel, until i saw the opening credits. is it me or i just think the movie was too damn slow? the ending made me realized that some current movies are trying to follow the Fight Club's (starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton) formula. in the end, the main character suffered from multiple personality disorder, which explains everything; the confusion, the mystery, etc. i wouldn't recommend this to anybody, just wait for the DVDs to come out.
or maybe i was just too sleepy for this one.

yeap. i made crappy movie reviews. i should stick as just watchin'. i'm out. anybody figured out the riddle yet?
